The purpose of this program is to assist non-custodial fathers to become more actively involved in their children’s lives.
Our goals are to:
make contact with the non-custodial father on behalf of the children
meet with both parents to address the issues and remove the barriers that lead to parental inactivity
provide support services, including referrals to support groups and parenting classes
facilitate parenting plans and mediation agreements to decrease conflicts and increase parental involvement
Research indicates that children who have active fathers are more likely to:
get good grades
be socially and emotionally well-adjusted
engage in less criminal activity and/or drug use
have fewer incidents of teenage pregnancy
Parenting Classes
Parents are invited to attend one of our parenting classes at no charge. The class assists parents with understanding their children’s developmental needs and how conflict and non-involvement negatively affect their child’s development and adjustment. The class provides parents with the necessary skills to develop a personal action plan for co-parenting, using cooperative parenting skills.
